Game Recap

Delaware Christian traveled to Shekinah Christian on Tuesday and came out on top by a score of 9-5. The Eagles jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning as Haileigh Darnell lead off the game with a walk and stole second base. Madisen Wallace reached on an error by the Shekinah shortstop. Madie Morgan had an infield single and Kara Haskins drew a walk. Caitlyn Ruminski then hit into a fielder’s choice to plate the final run of the inning. The Eagles struck again in the third for three more runs. The highlight of the inning was Madisen Wallace hitting a long drive down the left field line which resulted in her first home run of the season. Delaware scored two more runs in the fourth and one in the sixth. Offensively, the Eagles were lead by Madisen Wallace (two hits, four runs scored, and one RBI), Caitlyn Ruminski (two hits, one run score, and three RBI’s), and Madie Morgan (three hits, three runs scored, one RBI). Delaware benefited from five stolen bases, six earned walks, and five errors that were committed by Shekinah. Defensively, Cassidy Justice recorded eleven put outs at first base and Haileigh Darnell played well in her first start of the season at catcher. Madie Morgan pitched a complete game and got the win. She gave up two earned runs on four hits, while striking out seven and walking none.
