Game Recap

Delaware Christian hosted the Tree of Life Lady Trojans at Liberty Field on Thursday afternoon and came out on top by a score of 16-4. The Trojans jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, but could muster only one additional run the rest of the game. A thirty minute weather delay stopped play in the bottom of the second, but it did not slow down the Delaware bats. When play resumed, the Eagles finished the second inning with six runs, and then added six more in the third, and four more in the fourth. The second and third innings were highlighted by two Lady Eagles, Madisen Wallace and Madie Morgan, hitting home runs to left field. The Eagle bats stayed hot in the fourth as Hope Clark and Cassidy Justice singled, Emily Parrish and Haileigh Darnell doubled, Annie Wallace dropped a sacrifice bunt, and Zoe Twigg hit into a fielder’s choice that earned her an RBI. The Eagles were led offensively by Emily Parrish (three for four with two doubles and a stolen base), Hope Clark (two for two with three runs scored), Cassidy Justice (two for three with two RBI’s and three runs scored), and Haileigh Darnell (two for three with one RBI and two runs scored). Madie Morgan recorded her fifth win in ten outings as she pitched a complete game giving up two earned runs on five hits, while striking out seven and walking none.
