Game Recap

Delaware Christian traveled to Gahanna Christian on Thursday afternoon for a MOCAL matchup that resulted in a 12-1 win for DCS in five innings. Gahanna jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning and kept Delaware off the scoreboard until the top of the third when DCS erupted for six runs. Haileigh Darnell started the inning with a double to left center. Emily Parrish drew a walk and Madie Morgan plated two RBI’s with a double to center field. The inning continued with Caitlyn Ruminski drawing a walk and Kara Haskins earning first base after being hit by a pitch. Hope Clark then launched a single to left field which scored Ruminski and Haskins. Cassidy Justice then singled to bring in Hope Clark. The Lady Eagles tacked on two more runs in the top of the fourth and added four additional runs in the top of the fifth inning. Offensively, the Eagles were lead by Emily Parrish who was two for three at the plate, with three runs scored and Caitlyn Ruminski who got on base four times and had three stolen bases. Defensively, DCS had no fielding errors and kept Gahanna scoreless over the final four frames. To top off a great defensive game, first baseman Cassidy Justice had an unassisted double play in the bottom of the fifth inning. Madie Morgan pitched a complete game giving up one earned run on three hits, while striking out eight and walking none.
