DCS freshman, Lyssi Snouffer, added another milestone to her outstanding debut season with a Region 11 Championship in girls high jump on Wednesday, May 24th.
To set the stage, Lyssi claimed the school’s 2nd District Championship in Track & Field after competing at Watkins Memorial on Tuesday, May 16th. Snouffer repeated her PR and school record with a mark of 5′ 6″ to claim 1st place and advance to the regional meet.
Prior to May 16th, 2017, the Eagles lone district champion in track was Lenora Boyer (2013) in girls long jump.
Lyssi is no stranger to making history this school year. After playing a vital role in the school’s 1st district title and regional finalist in volleyball, Snouffer has gone on to break 5 school records in girls track & field (High Jump, Long Jump, 100M, 200M, & 400M), adding the school’s 2nd district title, and bringing home the 1st regional title in program history.
On Wednesday evening, at Fairfield Union High School, Snouffer found herself on the top of the podium after breaking the school high jump record for the 4th time this season with a jump of 5 feet 7 inches.
School has commenced, but Lyssi’s season is not over. Snouffer is the 1st State Qualifier in DCS Track & Field history. She will compete for the State Title on Friday, June 2nd at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on the campus of Ohio State University. The girls high jump competition will start at 4:00 PM. Admission for all spectators will be $10.00. The full schedule of events for the 2017 OHSAA Track & Field Championships can be found in the link below.
