Eagles News · Danville Captures Lead Early to Defeat Delaware Christian


Delaware Christian Eagles fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 16-0 loss to Danville on Wednesday.  Danville scored on a home run by Kaitlyn Briggs, a home run by Sammie Lavender, and a triple by Camie Newbold in the first inning.

Delaware Christian struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Danville, giving up 16 runs.

Danville fired up the offense in the first inning.  Danville scored two runs when Briggs homered.

Lavender led things off in the circle for Danville. She lasted three innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out five and walking zero.

Claire Bowman toed the rubber for the Eagles. She lasted four innings, allowing 15 hits and 16 runs while striking out two and walking one.

Danville smacked three home runs on the day. Lavender had a long ball in the first inning. Briggs put one out in the first inning. Mckinley Alberts had a four bagger in the third inning.

Danville tallied 15 hits in the game.  Bobbi Berger, Alberts, and Briggs each racked up multiple hits for Danville.

With this loss, the Lady Eagles ended their postseason play but have one more league game Friday night at Granville, starting at 5:30PM.
