Eagles News · Softball captures MOCAL Championship

The Lady Eagles defeated Granville Christian Academy 9-3 Thursday evening.  Granville stayed close the first two innings but the DCS offense got the bats going in the third and never stopped.
The offensive onslaught by Delaware Christian was led by Seniors Claire Bowman and Zoe Twigg, as well as  Elizabeth Ringley, Justice Cassidy, Eden Marquis, and Macy Allsion, all driving in runs.   A true team effort, hits were offered by all but 2 players:  Bowman (3-3 at the plate), Justice (2 hits), Allison (2 hits), and single clutch hits by Twigg, Emma Rindfuss, Katie Neuhart, and Maria Crooks.
Both teams held strong on the defensive side of the inning, Delaware Christian leaving a total of 11 runners on base, while Granville left 14 Eagles waiting to score. A defensive highlight for DCS was a heads-up solo double play by freshman Katie Neuhart in the fifth, catching a line drive at short stop then running to step on third base, ending the inning and leaving two others on base.
Senior, Claire Bowman was in the circle for Delaware Christian Eagles. She allowed nine hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking zero.  Goehring was on the rubber for Granville Christian Academy. She surrendered nine runs on 11 hits over seven innings, striking out four.
This win seals the MOCAL championship for Delaware Christian Varsity Softball, with a 7-0 record in the league, 11-5 overall.  The Lady Eagles have one remaining make-up game scheduled at home for this coming Monday 5/13, starting at 5:30PM.
